Digital India's Access to the Treasure of Global Research
May 2018
It started off as a crazy dream of an entrepreneur in 1980 to see digital transformation happening elsewhere in the world to happen in India too. Computers were dream machines in India then and the internet was not yet born. He got fascinated by the emergence of specialized online search engines in those days which provided instant access to information for researchers in universities in US and Europe. His dream lead to the birth of Informatics India Ltd (www. informaticsglobal.com), the pre-internet online company. It was one of those rare and early startups in digital content domain of India started by N V Sathyanarayana, a Librarian and Information Scientist turned entrepreneur who envisioned the potential of online information industry for education and research. Google was born 18 years later!

Ask any researcher and they will tell you the long hours they put in, it could be anywhere between 60-80 hours per week studying, teaching or doing research. If the researcher is married and a parent, they can pretty much forget the work-life balance. The pressure can reach unsustainable levels when deadlines for paper submissions approach. There is a need for a platform that can help scholars to save time in searching for reviewed research articles and provide a comprehensive source to discover maximum information.
